Born on September 20th 1940 and passed on November 19th 2020
The oldest in a family of five children, Betty was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Beatrice Chapman Hemphill and William Thomas Hemphill. She was proceeded by siblings Barbara Chester-Herndon, William Thomas Hemphill (Bill), Robert Hemphill (Bob) and Linda Hemphill Coats. The family moved to Miami-Dade County in Florida so Betty, who was born with cerebral palsy, could attend the University of Miami. In spite of her physical disability, Betty lived a full life, graduating with a Degree in Speech Therapy and holding a government job with the State of Florida. In retirement, Betty fulfilled a life-long dream by moving to Las Vegas Nevada to play poker. She also displayed remarkable knowledge of her other great passion, sports, most particularly football, basketball, baseball and ice-hockey. Betty loved the Lord. She is missed by all those who love her and whose lives she touched.
