Bryon J. Folts, 81, of Henderson, NV, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2020 at his home after a short and aggressive battle with cancer.
Bryon was born in Milwaukee, WI, on February 24, 1939 to the late John and Mildred Folts. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane (nee Schmidt), daughter Melinda Folts-Bohlmann (David) of Henderson, NV and son Robert Folts of Miami, FL. He is also survived by his brother Jordon Folts (Stella) and brother-in-law, Alan Ruetten (Sandra, deceased), 6 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
An Army Reserve Veteran, Bryon graduated from MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) and went on to have a long career at IBM.
Bryon loved fitness and spent many hours playing racquetball, hiking, skiing and enjoying time at “the club” with his fellow IBMers. He was able to fix and build anything, with his largest accomplishment being their home in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Bryon built the home by hand, primarily by himself, and the family enjoyed living there for many years.
Bryon also loved to travel, and the family enjoyed many trips exploring the country in their RV. He understood the importance of family time and his family always came first.
After retiring from IBM, Bryon and Diane moved to Henderson, NV to enjoy the warmth and sunshine of the southwest.
Bryon was a proud 32° Mason and Tripoli Shriner.
He made friends everywhere he went, and everyone enjoyed Bryon’s kindness, his brilliant mind, and his willingness to help others.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Ramalingam Ratnasabapathy (Dr. Ram) at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Henderson, NV and the wonderful staff at Seasons Hospice for all of their care and support.
Please keep Diane and the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Due to all the uncertainty regarding Covid-19, a celebration of life in Bryon’s honor has not been planned.
