Evina Romero

It is with great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of Evina Romero (known by many as Evey), age 74.  She passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023.  She fought a courageous battle with Stage 3 Lung Cancer and she passed away in her home with his loving husband, Gilbert and her children by her side. 

Evey was born in New Mexico to her parents Magdalena Ortega and Mike Aranda. She lived in various US states throughout her life and settled in Sparks Nevada since 1990.

She is pre-deceased by her parents, Magdalena Ortega and Mike Aranda and brother Abran Olivas and sister Linda Oradate; as well as her daughter Heidi Zufelt and granddaughter Leslie Zufelt.

She is survived by her husband Gilbert of 45 years. Her dogs Sheba and Penny. Her siblings Rose Zufelt, Betty Favilia, Roque Olivas, Mary Ann Martinez, Connie Morgan and Kim Olivas. Children Tina Zufelt, Sandra (Curtis) Luxton, Mike Zufelt, Bridget Zufelt, Veronica (Mauricio) Medina, Michael (Becky) Romero and Travis Romero. Also numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was extremely creative and enjoyed fishing, arts and crafts, planting, painting and woodworking. She will be greatly missed and for her kind heart and willingness to help anyone at any time. She was so kind and passionate and loved by many.  She made an impact on many people’s lives, and will be thought of as time goes on.  Until we meet again.

There will be no services held as per her request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Romero family.

    My deepest condolences to you during this difficult time. Please know that I am here for you, offering my support and love as you navigate through this loss. Evey will always be remembered fondly, and her spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
