Francisca Carlota Perez-Gargallo
1926 – 2020
Francisca Perez, age, 93, passed away on May 18th, 2020. She is survived by her son Ariel F. Perez as well as her sister Alicia Gargallo, her niece Alicia Gonzalez, and her nephew Waldo (Toti) Gonzalez – her nephew Gustavo A. Amaral and niece-in-law Elisa Amaral. She is preceded in death by her husband Ariel Alfredo Perez, her sister Rosa Perez-Vilar, and her brother-in-law Tomas Arnaldo Perez – together with her father Anastasio Gargallo and her mother Mercedes Gargallo-Quijano.
Francisca was born in Havana, Cuba, where she attended a distinguished Catholic boarding school managed by a special religious order of high-degree monastic nuns, in full habit, highly disciplined as school-mistresses. Before graduating she was nominated the equivalent of what is considered in the United States as Homecoming Queen. Afterwards, she attended the prestigious Montori Private University in Havana, Cuba, for her higher education. There she studied for her secretarial degree, and minored in finance, and music. In addition, she studied interior design which was her favorite lifelong hobby and passion. My mother was a devoted and dedicated, and exceptionally loyal wife and mother. She adored and lived wholeheartedly for her family. She will be remembered by her family and all those who knew her as a remarkably compassionate, kind, and loving person. I know God has reserved a special place for her. I hold back tears as I say that she will be sorely missed.
Memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Husband of Mary Catholic Church on a future date.
