Frank Philip Vandekerckhove ,54, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2021 after a long and arduous battle with kidney cancer. He was born in Oostend, Belgium on July 10, 1966.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Marcel Vandekerckhove and Viviane Helene Antainette Vermote and only brother Mark Vandekerckhove.
Survived by his wife of 24 years, Airish Flores Elbo, niece Chelsea Vandekerckhove, nephew Neal Vandekerckhove, relatives and friends
He was a devoted and loving husband and beloved uncle.
A kind and compassionate man who was loved and revered by his friends and colleagues.
He provided inspiration to a lot of people having survived life threatening surgeries and dealing with the ups and downs of cancer in all of 18 years.
He surged on with his favorite sport tennis despite being wheelchair bound. It didn’t stop him from pursuing the sport that he so loved. Organizing wheelchair tennis tournaments and joining interstates tournaments as well. Eventually, cancer took away that one sport from him. Yet he was undeterred.
He did the best he could even in the face of challenges.
He will be greatly missed especially by those whose lives he so dearly touched.
