John Edward Douglas Armstrong

John Edward Douglas (JED) Armstrong, 73, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023, surrounded by family after valiantly battling pancreatic cancer.

He was born to John (Jack) and Ruth Armstrong on March 3, 1950, near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. JED received a degree in Marketing from McMaster University in 1972. He then began a long career in Medical Imaging with DuPont in 1973, which eventually took him and his family to the United States. He ended his career at Carestream Health, where he was honored with multiple awards over the years. JED met the love of his life, Wendy, in 1982, who survives him. He and Wendy were married just six days shy of 40 years. JED is also survived by son Tim and wife Mallory, son Tyler and wife Samantha, granddaughter Ryan, brother Brian and wife Jean, sister Catherine and husband Dave, several nieces and nephews, “third son” Alex and partner Marie from Germany, and extended family in Canada and Florida. JED was predeceased by his parents Jack and Ruth.

JED was known for his love of hockey, golf, sailing, snowboarding, and cars. He was very involved in his sons’ sports activities over the years, and he loved sharing his knowledge and expertise with coworkers and family members. He enjoyed traveling the world with Wendy and good friends on cruise ships as well as a good Manhattan and a Maple Old Fashioned. He was greatly admired for his optimism and perseverance, as he survived four battles with cancer.

The celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 1 pm at the Armstrong home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Please send memorial donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in lieu of flowers.
