John “Jack” Daniels

John Joseph Daniels of Las Vegas NV passed away peacefully, on November 27, 2023 at the age of 72 following a brief illness. John or “Jack” as he was known by many, was born 

April 5,1951 in Providence RI. He grew up in North Providence where he served as an altar boy at St. Augustine Catholic Church, attending the church school through grade eight. John graduated from North Providence HS as a member of the class of 1969. He studied at Rhode Island College, Bryant College and graduated from the New England School of Broadcasting in Boston. John was a Life member of the Fruit Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

For the better part of three decades Jack Daniels could be heard on the radio as he persued the vocation he loved. In RI he was on the air with WHJJ, WHJY, WICE among others and in the 1980s in Las Vegas on KVEG and KRAM where he was Program Director for a time. After returning to North Providence in 1989 with his wife and young son, John worked at WNBH in New Bedford MA and WHJJ in East Providence as a producer. For the next twenty years John worked as a dispatcher for the North Providence Police and Fire Departments. Upon his retirement in 2012 John returned to Las Vegas where he enjoyed his final years with his wife Liz and later their son Mike who relocated there in 2016.

John was preceded in death by his parents George Daniels Sr. and Virginia (Ephremian) Daniels of North Providence RI, and his brothers Michael A. Daniels of N. Providence and George “Ted” Daniels of Smithfield RI and Naples FL.

John is survived by his wife of 38 years Elizabeth Philbrick Daniels, his son Michael Joseph Daniels, uncle Joseph M Ephremian of East Providence RI and Boynton Beach FL, sister in law Victoria (Difilippo) Daniels of Smithfield RI and Naples FL, nieces Karin, Lynne, Michelle and their families as well as cherished cousins. 

John enjoyed his vegetable garden, bargain hunting, live entertainment and spoiling the family dog. He will be remembered fondly by family, friends and neighbors for his outgoing personality and generous spirit.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Details to follow.

  • John or as he would say “Call me JACK” will forever be remembered as the kindest, most soft spoken person.
    I am honored to have met him and pray his soul rest in eternal peace.

  • Whenever John would visit his primary care doctor, he would always put a smile on his face regardless of if he’s in pain or not. John was such a sweet soul and I always looked forward to getting him ready for the doctor. Even when something was wrong, John made sure to never change his demeanor or attitude towards you in which everyone would appreciate. John will always be remembered.

    I met jack only once. He was so friendly. He was supportive of his wife going to Love MCC.
