Patricia “Pat” Covello
03/07/1944-08/22/2022
Patricia “Pat” Covello died peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday, 08/22/2022. Pat (nee Hoover) was born to Thomas and Anna Hoover 03/07/1944. She was the 4th of 5 children born to Thomas and Anna. Her siblings include Tom, Don, Eunice and Steve. She is survived only by her brother Tom from her family of origin. She lived in Collings Lakes and attended Vineland High School. In 1962 she worked at Korvette’s Department Store in Audubon, NJ where she met Don Covello, son of Nick and Marge Covello, of Collingswood, NJ. They would marry in 11/1963. Pat and Don have 2 sons; Nick, born in 1965, and Mike, born in 1967. From 1963- 02/1976, Pat lived in Collingswood, Fairview, Maple Shade and Cherry Hill. She enjoyed family time with her sons, reading to Nick, helping out Mike with Boy Scouts, taking Nick and Mike to Great Adventure safari, taking Nick and Mike out to lunch and to the movies and walking to the library. Pat and Don bought their home in Collingswood in 02/1976 and lived in their home until 12/2002 when Pat and Don retired. In her Collingswood home, she continued to be busy with family life and raising a family. During quiet moments, she would enjoy drinking coffee on her back screened in porch, going for walks and spoon feeding her dog, Amanda. Pat worked in various jobs outside of home from the 1970’s to 2002. Some jobs include the Hallmark shop in Westmont, Aramark in Cherry Hill and East Coast Beauty Supply in Runnemede. In 01/2003, Pat and Don sold their Collingswood home, bought a condo, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada for their retirement. In her retirement, Pat enjoyed her well-earned and well-deserved retirement, relaxing in the warm and dry Vegas weather, going to the pool, and reading by poolside. Pat and Don took some driving trips out West together, including the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Utah, and Spring Training in Arizona. She liked eating at the restaurants in Vegas. Occasionally, Pat would play slot machines in the casino. Pat loved her family and friends and enjoyed visiting with them in person and talking with them by phone. She was a lover of people and also dogs. She was an avid reader. She enjoyed baking cookies, monkey bread, chocolate chip coffee cake and Hershey disappearing cake. She liked eating pasta, and would make her own sauce on most Sundays. She also liked food from the Olive Garden. She had a great laugh. She was Catholic, and went to Mass every week from 1996 to 2002 in Holy Saviour, Westmont, NJ and at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Las Vegas from 2003 until very recently. She was a loving, kind and generous wife, mother, grandmother and nana, calling herself “Nannie” and “Grandmom Vegas”, sister, Aunt Pat and friend. Pat is survived by her husband Don, adult children Nick (Maria) and Mike (Teresa) Covello, 5 grandsons; 3 grandsons from Mike and Teresa of Christopher, Joshua and Andrew, 2 grandsons from Nick and Maria of Nicholas and Anthony, brother Tom Hoover, sisters-in-law Maryann Hoover, Suzi (nee Covello, Bobby) Wagner, Phyllis (nee Covello, John) Reilly, nephews and nieces of David, Beth, Rob, Kate, Theresa, Bubba, Tommy and Mary, and close friend in Vegas, Mary. Although we are all saddened by theloss of Pat, some are somewhat comforted in that Pat was a believer in God, that she knew that she was dying and that she was very much at peace with it. Several days ago, when she asked for us to arrange a priest for Holy Communion and Confession for sacrament of the sick, she said, “It’s almost over. Be happy for me.”
