Thurman James Troutmon passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the age of 66 at his residence in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Thurman (Tubby) was born on April 28, 1956, in Saginaw, Michigan, to James and Nancy Troutmon.
Tubby graduated from Saginaw High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1974. He attended Hampton State University in Hampton, Virginia, and later moved to Georgia, where he opened a clothing store in the Decatur Mall. Eventually he would make Las Vegas, Nevada, his permanent home and worked there until his passing.
Tubby believed in helping others and always showed concern for the homeless and those in need. He was both an activist and humanitarian.
Thurman leaves to cherish his memory his sister Linda Troutmon, Saginaw, Michigan; brothers Norman Troutmon, Las Vegas, Nevada; Carlton Troutmon, Flint, Michigan; and Tommie Troutmon, Las Vegas, Nevada; Aunt Hazel Roberts, Saginaw, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Thurman was preceded in death by his parents James and Nancy Troutmon; grandparents Mary and Willie Goosby, Myles and Georgia Troutmon; siblings, Roland E. Troutmon and Nancy Jo Troutmon; Aunts, Georgia Diggs, Elizabeth Moore, Ora Aytch, Gertrude Forte and Elizabeth Hooker; and Uncles, Myles Porter and Willie Bell Troutmon.
In honor of Thurman Troutmon’s and his family’s wishes there will not be a funeral service. After cremation his ashes and memory will be kept in Las Vegas, Nevada, and forever in our hearts.
